Intel has announced the launch of its new Comet Lake-S processing platform aimed at motorizing desktop computers. After the official launch of the Core H Series for the laptop segment, Intel updates its platform for desktop PCs. Both are part of the 10th generation of Core processors and maintains the 14nm ++ technological manufacturing process, pushing to the limit an architecture that will not be completely renewed until the company overcomes the production problems caused by the jump to 10nm. .

The Intel Comet Lake-S will be the company’s most advanced for this year on a consumer platform. They will compete with the AMD Ryzen 3000 and for their operation they will need the new motherboards with LGA 1200 socket and 400 series chipset , which have already been announced by the main manufacturers.

10th Generation Intel Core S-Series processors promise a smooth gaming experience, immersive entertainment, and optimized streaming thanks to updated connectivity:

Intel will repeat the approach we have seen in the present generation, which means that its new processors will be divided into a total of five ranges, with a large number of different models.

Celeron range

The top of the range of the platform will be the  Core i9-10900K . A development with 10 cores and double the processing threads under HyperThreading technology, with a base frequency of 3.7 GHz and an unlocked multiplier like all the «K» series models. Its main innovation will be the ability to increase its working frequency up to  5.3 GHz  using  Intel Thermal Velocity Boost  (TVB) technology.
