Sinus infections are common, especially when the weather gets cold. It isn't unusual to come down with a cold, but you'll need to be extra vigilant of how you're feeling. Sinus infections can last longer and be more persistent than the common cold. When our sinuses get clogged and won't drain normally, this can result in sinusitis. It can be so inconvenient that a light tap on the sides of the nose can already cause pain. Sinus infections can also be accompanied by a headache and at times, a fever. Sinusitis can be caused by a virus, bacteria, or fungi. But some people are at increased risk of developing it. If you're experiencing nasal congestion, have asthma, or have abnormalities in your brain ducts and nasal passages, you may develop sinusitis more easily. When Should You Go to a Sinusitis Specialist Clinic in Singapore? Sinus infections can be managed at home. You can increase humidity in your room with the help of a vaporizer or a humidifier. It also helps to increase your water intake and apply a warm compress around your face. Your doctor may also recommend using saline sprays or decongestants and sleeping with your head elevated. If a week has passed and your symptoms still aren't improving, it may be time to go to a sinusitis specialist in Singapore. Here are more signs that your sinus infection is progressing and you shouldn't delay seeing a specialist any further. Your fever isn't going away and only getting worse. The pain and discomfort aren't subsiding and seem to be spreading to other parts of your body. Taking painkillers no longer helps you feel better. You're noticing green or yellow nasal discharge. You're losing your appetite. You're starting to have trouble breathing and home-care treatments don't seem to help. Your family doctor will most likely refer you to a sinus doctor in your area. An ear, nose, and throat (ENT) doctor can diagnose your sinus problems and identify the treatment that you need. How a Sinusitis Specialist in Singapore Can Help? Though sinusitis is common, not all sinus-related problems are easily treated. In some instances, the use of antibiotics can already get rid of the infection. However, if there are other causes, your ENT doctor or sinusitis specialist in Singapore needs to evaluate other treatment options and see which one will work best for your condition. You don’t have to see a specialist right on the first day of noticing sinus issues. However, if your situation doesn’t get better after a week, then it’s crucial to seek help from a specialist. Getting treated immediately also keeps the issue from worsening and requiring complex treatment. Don’t forget to continue looking after yourself - get plenty of rest, increase water intake, and eat nutritious meals. You shouldn’t have issues finding a sinusitis specialist clinic in Singapore. But, find a doctor that you feel most comfortable with and accepts your health insurance if you have any. It can be worthwhile to travel a little if the sinusitis doctor is the best one on your list of candidates. Discuss your symptoms with them and get treated as early as possible.
