Check Internet Connectivity

Open Avast VPN and click on privacy options. Now click on the Change Location button and switch between different locations and servers. Save changes, exit, and restart the computer.
Check Subscriptions & Notifications
Not all VPN services are available for free. Some services are free and to avail of an enhanced experience, we may need to upgrade the service to a premium one. Check Windows Defender Firewall

Press Win + R and type firewall.cpl and hit enter. Click on the ‘Turn Windows Defender Firewall ON or OFF and then click on Turn OFF Windows Defender Firewall’ radio buttons. Click on both buttons and then click Ok. Restart the computer and check if it works else come back on the same page and turn both of them ON.
Turn OFF Antivirus Services
It’s not just Windows Firewall, any third-party Antivirus can also block your VPN and result in Avast SecureLine VPN not working. If that is the case, we can try turning OFF the Antivirus service for 10 minutes and check if it works. You can right-click on the antivirus icon and disable it or turn it off for the least duration. If you identify that the firewall is blocking the VPN, you can add it to the exception list.
Try Clean Boot
If you have installed another VPN or some other service that is hindering the experience and resulting in Avast SecureLine VPN not working, it is wise to go for a clean boot and check if things work fine. The process is easy however fiddling with the boot configuration may result in non-functioning services. So, you need a be a little cautious.
Press Win + R, type MSConfig, and hit Enter. Go to the Services tab and put a check on ‘Hide All Microsoft Services’ at the bottom. Now you will be left with a few services on the list. Click on Disable All button at the bottom. (Please see if there is any service that is related to your keyboard, touchpad, mouse, or internet, turn them back ON).
Restart the computer to get it into clean boot mode and check if the VPN client works. If it works fine, we will need to come back to the same screen and turn ON the services one by one and restart repeatedly to check which service is blocking the connection. This will take multiple restarts after turning ON the services one by one. You can also go to the Startup tab, click on open Task Manager, and disable services to check the connectivity.
Reinstall the Avast VPN
If this doesn’t work. We can also try to reinstall Avast VPN to fix Avast SecureLine VPN not working issue. It’s easy to uninstall and reinstall the program and this will get the VPN to its default settings.
Press Win + R, type appwiz.cpl, and hit Enter. Look for Avast SecureLine VPN, click on it and then click on the ‘Uninstall’ button at the top of the list. Restart the computer and install the program again with the setup file. Configure the settings and select a server to connect. Check if it works or gives you the same message that results in Avast SecureLine VPN not working.
