How to cut Sushi rolls?

When I first started making sushi rolls at home, I often ended up completely destroying the rolls. I thought I mastered the art of rolling sushi when I could construct any type of sushi perfectly, but I was wrong. A new problem awaited -cutting the sushi. I often ended up squishing the tiny individual pieces, and they would look like a splattered burrito. Eventually, I did get the hang of it.

So, if you are struggling with the same problems, then keep on reading. After years of testing different sushi and cutting methods, I think I have found the perfect way to cut sushi rolls.

Cutting a typical sushi roll

  • Get a wet stone and sharpen your knives
  • Dip the knife in water and make sure that the drop of water travels down the entire length of the knife.
  • Hold the roll gently with your fingers
  • Cut the first individual slice
  • Clean the knife
  • Repeat the process

Cutting an inside-out sushi roll

  • Get a cling film
  • Wrap it around the top of the roll
  • Dip the knife in the water
  • Gently hold the roll with fingers
  • Cut pieces quickly in fast moves
  • Remove the cling film

Conclusion

Mini Kitchen tools are not only used because they are tiny and cute. These are also very useful if you live in a small apartment or are traveling in an RV. The only difference between a full-sized version and a tiny version is the size. Other than that, there isn’t any different. All appliances work on the same principles.
