The Area Offers Great Beaches, Shopping, and Cultural Enthusiasts

Dubai is an international city and emirate located in the United Arab Emirates, famed for its ultramodern architecture, luxury shopping and a dynamic nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa, an eight hundred meter high tower, dominates the skyline. At its feet lies Dubai Fountain, with sparkling lights and jets choreographed to music. On artificial islands only offshore is Atlantis, The Palm, and a resort with aquatic-elephant parks.

Dubai also boasts a stunning coastline

In addition to boasting the world’s tallest tower, Dubai also boasts a stunning coastline. Jumeirah beach, on the southern coast of Dubai is a favorite among sun watchers and sailors alike.

Dotted with a variety of villas, hotels and other commercial establishments, the area offers local seafood, bargain shopping, and activities for families. Jumeirah Beach is also the location of the only seven-star hotel in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which attracts thousands of tourists each year.

Just to the south of Dubai lies Abu Dhabi, the largest of the seven emirates that constitute the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The city is home to the world’s tallest building, the tallest free-standing structure on earth, and several manmade islands. It also boasts one of the largest malls in the world and one of the largest shopping complexes in the UAE

Just north of Abu Dhabi is Dubai Creek, which is the main economic and social center of the area. Dubai Creek’s commercial establishments include a large number of souks, where shoppers can purchase all sorts of goods at greatly reduced prices.

Beyond these emirates, there are many other countries and regions of the Middle East that beckon to travelers. The Arabian Peninsula, which includes Dubai, has been an ever present source of trade with the rest of the world since its inception. Trade routes have crisscrossed the peninsula, allowing goods to cross from places in Dubai to places in the east.

Berber traders and Bedouin tribes have inhabited the Arabian peninsula for centuries, and today, they live in Dubai, establishing villages and communities along the coast.

In addition to trading, the Arabian peninsula has a rich history filled with battles, raids, and occupation by invaders. In fact, from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, the arabian colony was an important player in the Middle East, acting as an interface between Europe and the east.

Today, Dubai serves as the leading economic and cultural center of the middle east, housing some of the most affluent individuals and companies in the region. Located on nearly ten miles of coast, Dubai is home to an international airport, financial centers, shopping malls, and international-gas stations.
