NRI Academy of Medical Sciences (ANNAS) is the pioneer medical college in Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in 1989 and is accredited by the Medical Council of India. It is one of three medical colleges in Guntur District; other colleges are in Chembra and Vizag. It offers both online and classroom coursework for medical students aspiring to become doctors. A student wishing to pursue a specialization in orthopaedics can complete his/her graduation from any of the following institutions: Joint Commission International (JCI), American School of Orthopedics, American Physical Therapy Association, Asian Board Medical College, and Institute of Medicine, Bangalore. Students wishing to pursue a degree in neurosurgery can complete his/her graduation from any of the following colleges: Indian Institute of Technology, Allopathic Medical Institute, and Rishikesh Polytechnic, Srinagar. Finally, post-graduate students studying to become physiotherapists can complete their graduation from the Institute of Medicine, Hyderabad. After gaining admittance into one of these medical sciences colleges, the students must undergo intensive training as per their degree of choice. These include neuroanatomy, histopathology, endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology, gastroenteritis, haematology, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, and surgery. Apart from earning a b.sc in dermatology and surgery, students can also opt for other courses in the NRI Academy of Medical Sciences (NriAPS) curriculum. The graduation prerequisites are a b.sc in dermatology and surgery from an institution approved by the NRI Academy of Medical Sciences; a three-year post-graduate residency program from a recognized institute of medicine approved by the NRI academy. Students who do not pass the initial entrance exam are eligible for the subsequent four-year course. The first four-year course is offered through the NRI Academy of Medical Sciences and aims to prepare students for specific clinical experience. The NRI Academy of Medical Sciences also offers courses for the PhD in Neuroanatomy, Biosciences and Biomedicine. The PhD course in Neuroanatomy is meant to prepare students to handle neurological patients in rehabilitation settings. The NRI Academy of Medical Sciences also offers courses in Clinical Pathology, Cardiology, Dermatology, diagnostic medicine, and Gastroenterology under Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Medicine's main specialization.
